she knows. of course she knows, jane was is her best friend.
in fact, she was the first to know. the first time she’d been told,
she’d been in denial. she’d sat in a hot, ANGRY stupor &
called jane’s phone ten times a day because she was in denial
that her best friend was DEAD. But as time went on & as more &
more people muttered the words ‘im sorry’ as they passed her on
the streets & as jane’s family came down to spend a week so they
could prepare for her funeral, she began to accept it.
the second time she had been told that jane was dead was when she
refused to believe it & dipper had to SHAKE it into her. he had grabbed
hold of her thin shoulders & shook, crying & yelling,
‘SHE’S DEAD, SHE’S DEAD, SHE’S DEAD !!’
over & over so often & so hard that all she’d felt was numbness. & now was the third time she’s heard that her best friend is dead & all she
feels is anger. anger because, YOU IDIOT, she knows. why wouldn’t she ?
jane is was her best friend ;; of course she knows that jane is DEAD. she’s
angry because how D A R E they assume that she didn’t know, & how dare
they try to make her feel better. & she’s ANGRY because she wishes it were
her instead of jane. tears, streaming hot down her cheeks, flow freely now &
fingers ball into a fist as she presses them into her thigh to try to get the tears
to stop. she won’t let on to her anger, of course ( she’s much to polite for that )
so she lets out a sigh & nods her head.
‘you don’t have to remind me. i know.’
